Piano Quartet - Chamber Music Concert

Russian pianist, Svetlana Smolina, and three stellar members of the Northern Neck Orchestra will perform an evening of chamber music: Mahler’s Piano Quartet, Dvorak’s Piano Trio and Mozart’s Trio for Violin, Viola and Piano. The musicians from the Northern Neck Orchestra are violinist and concertmaster Moises Cunha, principal cellist Steve Custer, and principal violist Alice Lindsay.

Tickets for the performance are $25 and may be purchased at the door or online (ticket sales to start soon).

  • Performance: “We are delighted to present a rich variety of chamber music performed by these exceptional musicians,” said the orchestra’s Eric Jacobson. “The Mahler quartet is filled with passion and a sense of longing, the Dvorak trio is alternately gay and melancholy, while the Mozart trio contains a sprightly minuet with extended viola riffs.”

  • Svetlana Smolina has performed with orchestras and in recitals worldwide. Notable appearances include the Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall, the Orchestra National de France and the Pittsburgh Symphony. A frequent guest at festivals worldwide, she has performed at the Salzburg Festival, Hollywood Bowl and Ravinia.

  • Moises Cunha has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Brazil, Italy and Russia. The violinist has worked with many international artists, including conductors Leonard Slatkin, Xian Zhang and David Effron. A native of Brazil, Cunha is the winner of several competitions and has appeared as a soloist with many symphony and chamber orchestras as well as on Brazilian television.

  • Steve Custer was a cellist and soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. During his 36-year tenure with the orchestra, he played over 4,000 concerts and worked under four music directors at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the new Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl, and on tour. He also has performed with the Williamsburg Symphonia, and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra.

  • Alice Lindsay was a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, principal viola with the Dallas Opera Company, associate principal viola with the New Jersey Symphony, and principal violist with the Pennsylvania Opera Company Orchestra. She has performed with numerous world- class conductors, in chamber music recitals with principal players from major orchestras, in solo recitals at Lincoln Center and in world premieres of viola works at Carnegie Hall.

Spring Oyster and Wine Fair

We’re teaming up with the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association (TOGA) and hosting a Wine & Oyster event at the winery. TOGA staff will be on hand, providing demonstrations and instructions on growing and maintaining oyster gardens as well as how to shuck an oyster!

Did you know that the Great Wicomico is known as the Napa Valley of oysters?! That said, you must come to this event because The Great Wicomico Oyster Company (TGWOC) will be on-site, preparing/selling various oyster options to pair with our wines. Our wrap-around porch is a cozy and picturesque spot to enjoy both.

We look forward to having you come by for local oysters, great wine, and to learn lots about oysters.

This has become a popular annual event, and we’re pleased TOGA and TGWOC are returning.

Admission: No charge
